ENGLEWOOD, CO – On Saturday, September 18, CORE employees Elna Smith, Kevin Lovelace, and Manny Nuno participated in a Trail Restoration Project for Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC). The project took place at the Box o’ Rox Trail in Lakewood, Colorado.

Located in Lakewood’s William Frederick Hayden Park, the trail is a popular front-range park for running, hiking, and mountain biking and was experiencing severe drainage issues. Over two days, 76 volunteers worked together to improve the drainage, eliminate erosion, and maintain bridges.

CORE Project Engineer Elna Smith, who participated in the event, said, “It was hot but so rewarding to work on this project. There was a lot of damage to the trail when we started, and it was great to see a huge difference after our hard work.”

CORE is committed to giving back to the local community and is passionate about organizations like Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado who give our employees opportunities to become active stewards of Colorado’s natural resources.
