Solar Goes Mainstream

50 MW Confidential Solar Energy Project | Colorado

Energy - Civil Engineering, Land Surveying

This 50 MW utility-scale solar project, the largest operating solar project in Arapahoe County, Colorado, will generate solar energy for Xcel Energy’s Renewable*Connect Colorado. The program will give consumers the option to power their homes and businesses with green e-certified renewable energy. This solar project features over 500 acres of solar panels, a substation, transformers, and a transmission line. CORE provided permitting, civil engineering, and land surveying services for the project.

CORE worked closely with Arapahoe County’s planning and engineering departments through the application process. CORE developed a site grading plan that considered all potential impacts and minimized ground disturbance while allowing for solar panel rack tolerances and addressing strict drainage requirements. CORE coordinated extensively with the construction contractor on the timing of construction activities relative to the protected nests.
